Comp 1.0 - Individual Certification

Policy: Research at INST includes use of human subjects. In order to ensure regulatory compliance, INST policy requires that all employees and researchers have individual Institutional Review Board (IRB) compliance certification.

Procedure:

1. Initial certification:

a. All employees and researchers must complete IRB training online at www.citiprogram.org. In the pull-down menu labeled “All Others,” choose Mississippi State University. This online course requires a study manual that you may print out from the web site or borrow from INST.

b. Print out the forms showing you completed the online training and submit to INST.

c. You will receive a certification letter from the MSU Office for Regulatory Compliance. A copy of this letter must be forwarded to INST.

2. Certification renewal:

a. IRB certification is valid for three years. All INST employees and researchers using the facility must renew their certification by completing one of the recertification options available through Regulatory Compliance .

b. The employee/researcher is responsible for submitting the new certification letter to INST.
