Policy:
Because of the hazards of conducting research in a facility with high-powered imaging equipment, INST requires strict safety requirements of all researchers and clinicians using the medical equipment.
Procedure:
1. All researchers and clinicians must undergo basic safety training before being approved to work in the facility. In addition, researchers and clinicians using the MRI must view an MRI safety video before accessing the MRI. This training will be coordinated through Regulatory Compliance.
To register for safety training:
- Email business@inst.msstate.edu
- Provide name and netID
- Indicate whether or not you're a researcher, participant, etc.
- Go to onCapmus
- Go to Secure Access Login and log in using netID and password
- Click on "Classroom" tab
- Click on Old WebCT
- Click on External WebCT
- Log in using netID and password
- Click on INST Safety Course
- Click on Instructions and proceede
- You will need to watch the video and take the exam. Once you complete the exam, the results
will be transmitted to Regulatory Compliance. Regulatory Compliance will then notify INST
of your results. If your score is less than 100%, you will be contacted to either retake
the test or to review the missed questions.
2. A technologist must be present during all procedures. Any use of imaging equipment without the presence of a technologist is strictly prohibited.
3. Access to all rooms containing imaging equipment is restricted to only those who have legitimate reason to be in the area, and who have had the proper safety training.
Compliance:
INST has the right to restrict access to these rooms and to remove anyone who is acting in an unsafe manner.
