Comp 2.1 - Entering the Magnet Room

Policy:
Because of the hazards of conducting research in a facility with high-powered imaging equipment, INST requires strict safety requirements of all researchers and clinicians using the medical equipment. Access to imaging equipment rooms will be strictly limited.

Procedure:
1. The technologist is the only person who can operate the equipment has authority over who enters the rooms containing imaging equipment.

2. No one can enter the equipment rooms until they have been properly screened by the technologist.

3. Only people who have been through INST’s safety training can enter rooms with imaging equipment.

4. Only approved equipment can be taken into the MRI room. Under no circumstances will anyone be allowed to take equipment into the room while someone is in the magnet or anyone is working near the bore.

5. No one will be allowed to enter the MRI room with any metal object in their possession.

Compliance:
INST reserves the right to restrict access to these rooms and to remove anyone.
