Comp 3.0 - Animal Use

Policy:
The INST animal facilities and imaging equipment will be available to clinical animals through the College of Veterinary Medicine and for animal research from all departments/colleges at MSU. Dr. Greg Boring and his staff, from the College of Veterinary Medicine, have been designated as the point of contact for all animal procedures. They will be facilitating all animal cases and are required to be present for all procedures. INST/CVM is committed to ensuring all animals and personnel are protected and all researchers and clinicians follow federal and state regulations and guildelines and all IACUC protocols and policies.

Procedure:

1. All animal use is governed by INST policies and procedures.

2. Contact one of CVM's technicians to confirm that someone will be available at the requested date and time when scheduling your scan:

3. Screening forms for personnel and animals must be provided to INST before coming to the facility.

4. Animal pre-checklist must be completed upon arrival to the facility.

5. MRI and animal rooms must be sanitized after scan.

6. Post-checklist must be completed and signed before leaving the facility.


Compliance:

Persons without proper authorization will be removed immediately. Failure to follow this procedure will be subject to disciplinary action and/or loss of privileges. Each Department/College using the facility is responsible for ensuring their researchers/clinicians’ compliance.
