Policy:
Animal health and safety are of primary importance when using the imaging facility. INST requires that anyone handling animals wear protective clothing in the facility. INST follows all federal and state regulations and guidelines and all IACUC policies and procedures for the use of animals in research.
Procedure:
1. All handlers must change their clothing upon entering and exiting the building in the changing room beside the kitchen. Street clothes must be removed or covered upon entering.
2. Disposable gloves, masks, head covers, shoe covers, etc. should be worn when appropriate.
3. Anyone entering the MRI room should not have jewelry, metal in their shoes, metal ink pens, cell phones, pagers, or other communication devices, or any other objects containing metal.
Compliance:
Persons without proper authorization will be removed immediately. Failure to follow this procedure will be subject to disciplinary action and/or loss of privileges. Each Department/College using the facility is responsible for ensuring their researchers/clinicians’ compliance
