Policy:

INST provides reliable, secure disk space on its servers for users to store data. Due to high costs of operations, backup media, and redundant data storage, users are allocated a certain amount of space for files and data not directly related to current projects.

Procedure:

• All users who utilize the INST e-mail system are subject to a 200MB limit for e-mail only. This limit only applies to e-mail messages maintained on the server. Files or other data outside of e-mail are not included.

• The default file storage quotas for INST personnel are as follows:
a. Undergraduate Students: 500MB
b. Graduate Students: 750MB
c. Faculty/PIs: 1.0 GB
d. Administrative Staff: 1.0 GB

• Users who require more disk space than these limits are to discuss their needs with their respective supervisor. Requests for quota extensions will be received from PIs and Unit Heads only, and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
