Sys 4.2 - Facility Access Control

Policy:
The INST Systems Administration Unit is dedicated to protecting the integrity and availability of the systems and data that we manage. Due to the nature of business conducted at INST, security is of the utmost importance on all levels.

Procedure:

• Authorized users will be afforded access to INST facilities via a combination magnetic swipe card and physical key system. The Systems Administration Unit will manage all access control.

• Users will be allowed access only to areas they require to conduct their business or research. Users are expressly forbidden from any attempts to gain access to unauthorized sections of the building.

• Keys and swipe cards issued by the Systems Administration Unit are the responsibility of the person to whom they were issued. In the event that a key or card is misplaced, stolen, or lost, notification must be provided immediately to the Systems Administration Unit.

• Users will not share keys or swipe cards with anyone. All main doors and doors with electronic locks are to remain closed at all times. Office doors are to remain closed and locked when the office is unoccupied.

• All access to the INST facility will be electronically monitored. Users have no expectation of privacy. Attempting to tamper with access control systems will not be tolerated.

Compliance:

Persons found in violation with this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, removal from the premises, and complete loss of privileges at INST. Violation of this policy will be reported to the offending party’s appropriate supervisor, dean, director, or department head.
